Control Box Fuse & Isolation Panel

Writer: Kyden WidgerKyden Widger

Today we have completed the design process for a fuse and isolation switch panel to be implemented into our control box. This morning, the design was laser-cut and I fitted switches, fuse holders and LEDs into our custom panel.

(Panel and CAD model)

Our system is wired so we have a main isolation switch with two subsystems: topside and subsea. These subsystems control more individual circuits, all individually fused for maximum safety and operability in the event of a faulty circuit. We have almost finished wiring the panel and will have outputs from each circuit leading into terminal blocks for ease of connections made in the box.

(The reverse of our panel. Whilst it may look untidy, wires are left at a long length and terminal blocks unmounted to allow for some slack when mounting in our control box.)

We are currently waiting on an online order to arrive, the three missing fuse holders in the above image are in this order along with other parts we are going to use for our frame. Alongside the control box, we are trialling supports for our vehicle's frame which should be complete next week.
